Showing up for Mineral County
As Commissioner, my commitment is simple: show up for Mineral County, each town and every resident. That means listening to the people who live here, acting with transparency and accountability, continuing education and training, and participating in strategic and development group workshops.
My Platform
As part of the commissioners I want to make sure the people who are most often overlooked, our elderly, disabled, and other vulnerable residents actually have a voice in the decisions that shape our local economy. Growth and development shouldn’t come at the expense of people who’ve built and sustained this community. One idea I’m really excited about is starting a volunteer initiative called “Desert Gophers.” The goal would be to partner with local businesses to offer meaningful discounts or perks to volunteers who put in a certain number of service hours. The work itself would focus on things like cleaning up and repairing blighted properties, especially for seniors who physically or financially can’t keep up with maintenance. It’s a practical way to improve neighborhoods, but also to build stronger connections with neighbors looking out for each other and helping people stay safely in their homes longer.
On the economic side, I’d like to explore creating an entertainment district to bring in new energy and tax revenue, while also developing a designated historical district. That could open the door to grants and funding opportunities to restore and preserve our historic buildings, which are a big part of our identity. Overall, I want to focus on balanced growth by supporting local business and new development, but not in a way that sidelines the people who need representation the most.
